MoveOn.org takes aim at the 11th District

Submitted by Jeff on August 12, 2008 - 1:24pm.

Between his efforts this Spring to counter the leftist attacks on General Petraeus by engineering a petition drive to show support for the U.S. effort in Iraq, to his insistence on realistically dealing with America's energy crisis, Mike Conaway has netted the ire of one of the biggest guns in the liberal arsenal: George Soros's ultra-left wing MoveOn.org.

Seeking an "all-of-the-above energy plan"

Submitted by Mike Conaway on August 4, 2008 - 1:15pm.

Even though I am scheduled to be in Texas today, I chose to remain in Washington to participate in the GOP effort to draw attention to America’s current energy situation, and to the fact that we in the House were prevented from voting on a substantive, comprehensive energy plan in June or in July.

An update on the House attempt to limit online communications, and a note of thanks for your help

Submitted by Mike Conaway on August 2, 2008 - 12:47pm.

Two weeks ago, I posted an urgent note about the Democrats’ latest attempt to curtail communication between the American people and their elected representatives by applying an archaic House rule limiting Congress’ use of the Internet.

Submitted by Mike Conaway on August 1, 2008 - 4:04pm.

This morning, our GOP House leadership delivered a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asking her to call the House back into emergency session this month to deal with the country's growing energy crisis. The letter said, in part:

With American families and small businesses facing record high gasoline prices, Congress has adjourned to leave Washington for a five-week break.

Conaway teaches "Energy 101" for fellow members

Submitted by Jeff on July 21, 2008 - 1:59pm.

From today's Midland Reporter-Telegram:

You shouldn't try to legislate on oil and gas until you pass Energy 101, says U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Midland.

That's why he and one of the few other knowledgeable congressmen held a beginners' class last week and plan more Tuesday and Thursday in Minority Leader Roy Blunt's conference room.

Joining Arizona Rep. Trent Franks, Conaway told 28 neophyte Republicans about leasing and other pre-drilling work, drilling, producing, regulations and supply on July 15.

Sign the Petition -- Stop Congressional Democrats Censoring Communication Between Representatives and the American People

Submitted by Mike Conaway on July 10, 2008 - 10:03am.

Click here to sign the petition.

I have some very troubling news to share with you. In a shockingly Orwellian move, Congressional Democratic leaders, who promised in 2006 to create a more "open" government, are now proposing a new rule that would prevent Members of Congress from using the Internet to communicate with the American people unless the Web site they are using has been "approved" by a panel responsible for creating internal House rules.
