As I’ve been traveling around the district these past few weeks, it’s been great to be back in Texas. At “Ask Mike Anything” stops, I’ve heard from people about the bailout bill, energy concerns, and their thoughts on the direction of the country. I’ve had the opportunity to tour businesses like Trinity Energy and meet with the farmers that are the backbone of our economy.
One of the things I’ve most enjoyed is meeting with students across our 36 counties. I’ve spoken at a lot of schools, from the seniors at Menard to government students at Burnet, and these kids continue to impress me.
My time on the road has shown me just how important this next session of Congress will be. We need to ensure that our businesses and children - everyone - has the opportunity to succeed. As the economy heads through tough times, the Democrats want to make government the solution to our problems. We know that people are the answer, not government, and we need to send that message to Washington this November.
