There is an overlooked Republican success story right here in Texas when it comes to this election. The Texas Congressional delegation gained a Republican seat in this election. This is overshadowed by the Democratic gains in Congress, which came in other states.
Despite the difficult political climate that led to Democratic gains across the country, Republicans in Texas managed to take a Democratic seat back into the GOP column. Pete Olson defeated incumbent Democrat Nick Lampson in Texas' 22nd district. Pete will represent parts of southwestern Harris County, areas between Houston and Galveston and areas west of Houston into Fort Bend County, including Sugar Land.
Pete's victory increases the Republican numbers to 20 Texas Congressmen, a full 63% of the Lone Star State's representatives in Congress are Republican.
Texas' congressional Republicans made these gains based on the hard work of Republicans across the state, and for that we are thankful.
In fact, our Texas Congressional delegation will represent a a little more than 10% of the Republicans in Congress, giving Texans an important voice in the direction of our country.

Republican Success in Texas
I knew about this success. Just one of the reasons why I'm considering defecting to Texas!
