Today, I voted against approving a journal of the Congressional record to prevent some irresponsible remarks from becoming part of the official log of comments made on the House floor. Yesterday, a Democrat lawmaker unfortunately compared his party's presidential nominee to Jesus Christ. Additionally, he alluded that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is akin to Pontius Pilate. My vote against the record is a stance against members using the floor of Congress to make such flagrant, political and absurd comments that denigrate religious views. Further, I believe that if we allow such action and comments to continue, without protest, Congress will only be a place for political mudslinging rather than a place where we do the people's work.
I hope you understand my position. Please feel free to contact me if you think different or would like to give me your thought on my stance.
